Chelsea | Senior Portrait

I have known Chelsea's sweet family since I went on a mission trip to the Philippines in 2007. It was there that I met 2 of her brothers and 2 of her sisters. Two years later I went back and meet Chelsea. They are such a sweet family and it is very evident that they love the Lord with everything. We chose to meet at Kingsley Plantation for her session. It is a very old home on the marsh near Jacksonville's beautiful beach. These are just a few of photos I took of her...there are so many more good ones I wish I could post!

She wore these awesome shoes almost the whole session! I had to get a few good shots of them. If I ever wore heels that high I'd fall flat on my face...and look 6 feet tall! I don't know how she did it!

We had just finished up the shoot and were headed back because gargantuan rain clouds were moving in very rapidly. All of the sudden, I saw this spot and had to pull of the road. The earthy hues of the marsh complemented the darkening sky so flawlessly. It was ravishing! I'm so glad Chelsea was up for a few more because these next few turned out to be my favorites!

We had a great time talking about our families and what had transpired since we last saw each other. You always have a special bond with people you do ministry with, especially overseas! I don't think I will every forget Chelsea or the rest of her family!

Michelle | Jacksonville Beach Portrait

My sister Michelle pulled out the bridesmaid dress she wore in my wedding a while back. I loved this so much when I picked it out that I almost wanted to wear blue on my wedding day too! For months I've wanted to incorporate this dress into a shoot. I could imagine the blustering wind rushing through her hair and making the dress resemble the flux the waves. I had just the perfect spot in mind to create a dramatic background. There's just something about a beautiful dress and a rustic background that seems so full of emotion, rather reminiscent of a scene in Pride & Prejudice to me!

I love this one! It is so dramatic!
Little Mermaid anyone? Gosh, she is so gorgeous!

It turned out to be a little overcast so I was a little disappointed, but all of the colors blended together perfectly anyway. I really do love this spot! There are some beautiful dunes, plenty of sea gulls and gorgeous boulders. No one was at the beach, so we had the whole thing to ourselves! I love taking photos of my sister because I can tell her what I want without even saying anything...she just knows.

It was a blessing to spend some time together at the beach! I'm so glad she's still at home so we can spend time together when I make the trek back!

Storm | 50's Inspired Portrait

This shoot was awesome all around. First of all, you have to be pretty cool with a name like Storm. Second, the vintage dress she chose to wear is one of the most gorgeous dresses I have seen in a long time! I think I died a little when I saw her walk up. Everything about it was perfect, from the sweetheart neckline and black lace to the cinched waistline. Oh and it fit her like a glove too!

Storm's friend Lauren contacted me about doing a little shoot for her 50's themed bridal shower. They bought the dress for the party and thought it'd be cute to display a few photos of her on the tables. They had me at "vintage".

There is just something about black lace and cotton that seems so perfect together! I'm trying to take advantage of the lovely cotton season! That is one thing I love about living in the south!

Storm had never had portraits taken before, but she was such a natural in front of the camera. I just showed her a few poses and she fell into it like a little model! She was a trouper even thought it was incredibly humid and there were tons of gnats! Oh and Storm is giving some of these photos to her fiance as a wedding gift! How sweet is that?

PS: I just tea dyed a lace table cloth. I can't wait for you guys to see what I'm doing with it next weekend! Oh the cuteness!

Nicole | Portrait

I have known Nicole since college. We lived in the same apartment complex, lovingly dubbed "the ghetto". We tried to keep it as classy as possible though. Nicole is a very friendly person and easy to get to know. I've always loved her care-free bohemian style. From the get-go I knew this would be a fun shoot!

I love natural settings for portrait sessions. I am one happy girl if I can find peeling paint, wild flowers and wide open fields. We had all of the above! I was in heaven.

For the last location, we chose a cotton field. Nicole bought this dress because she thought it would look great in a photo with a cotton field in the background. Perfect! She certainly wasn't afraid to get her nice clothes a little dirty, "because a good picture is worth it" she said. I'm sure that would make any photographer happy!

We had a great time catching up and reminiscing about the old college days. She is definitely a natural in front of the camera and I loved getting to shoot a few portraits of her!

Autumn

The smell of Autumn is in the air! I love the fall season. I can't get enough of the leaves, crisp breeze, sweaters, scarves, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bread and warm soups! Not to mention it's my birthday month! Here's to Autumn!
